SUMMER FUN AT MORNINGTON PENINSULA

Summer’s not over yet folks! Beautiful Mornington Peninsula is a piece of cake to get to, as our St. Germain community will know, and it’s the perfect place to be on a balmy summer day. A brilliant day trip destination, the Peninsula boasts a wide array of things to see and do.

Foodie Heaven

Rebel Donuts

Mmmm doughnuts…

A visit here will seriously satisfy your sweet tooth, with a range of artisan doughnuts on offer made from scratch daily using locally sourced produce. Rebel Donuts is Mornington’s very own mecca of sweet treats with coffee, shakes, smoothies and ice cream available too.

Kids can also get their hands a little sticky at their Donut Decorating Classes these school holidays! Here you’ll be able to embrace your inner Adriano Zumbo and learn some decorating secrets from the masters themselves. Sessions are limited and parents are more than welcome to participate.

Mornington Hydroponic Café

Come for a delicious weekend brunch and leave with some fresh produce! Mornington Hydroponic Café grows their own lettuce, herbs and tomatoes on site. They also have a selection of local and gourmet pantry supplies to choose from including eggs, artisan bread and more. We should also mention this café offers a great range of baked goods, and they’re especially famous for their vanilla slice.

Common Folk Coffee

There are plenty of coffee spots on the Peninsula, but this particular caffeine haunt is unique. You’ll find Common Folk nestled in the back streets of Mornington, freshly roasting beans and preparing wholesome, delicious food. There’s also an artist studio in store, featuring works by talented locals. The team here are all about bringing people together over a good cup of joe, and 20c from every brew goes to help set up sustainable farms in Uganda.

For the Little Ones

The Messy Shed

Kids can take a break from the beach and get creative at this fun and interactive play space. Sensory play is the name of the game at The Messy Shed, kids are encouraged to explore and have fun and, of course, get messy! Activities vary each week depending on the theme and parents are encouraged to get their hands dirty too.

If you have very young children, Totsville has been designed with them in mind specifically. Here, little ones can let their imaginations run wild in pretend play, all in a kid-sized environment just for them.

Things To Do

Barefoot Cinema

Keep the good times rolling well into the evening and enjoy an outdoor movie session at Barefoot Cinema. Set at The Briars Homestead, one of the oldest properties on the Peninsula, this historic site is a stunning backdrop for the evening.

Much more than just a movie night, Barefoot Cinema includes live music performances, lawn games and a great selection of food and drinks. Pop by the Barefoot Bar for a refreshing beverage, stock up on snacks at the candy bar or grab something delicious from the food truck!

And for the first time, Barefoot Cinema is running an Aperitivo Hour, an early bird offering of Italian antipasti available from 6pm-7pm. The perfect accompaniment for an Aperol Spritz!

Main Street Market

A Mornington mainstay, these markets are a must-do if you’re heading down the coast. Every Wednesday, the Main Street Market comes to the town centre, bringing with it a variety of stallholders offering homemade, homegrown or home-baked goods. Peruse the market stalls, open from 9am – 3pm, and feel free to stop in one of the many cafes as you wander through.

With so much to see, you could easily spend a weekend exploring everything the region has to offer. Check it out for yourself, and be sure to share your favourite spots with us on our Facebook page.
